Special Note... Please read Please do read this story through to its pleasing end. It was written by my pre-teen-aged young son. He loves Stargate, and this is his first story. He's done a great job... pretty credible plot and writing for a child of his age. Support and encouragement are very welcome!
The Millenium by Kev Cheyenne Mountain, August 28, 1999 2:00 p.m. "Daniel! Move your bookish butt to gate room, Now." The colonel yelled over the speaker. His voice rang throughout the base, but the young anthropologist, Daniel Jackson, did not listen to a single word of the orders. There is an old, wooden bookcase scaling the wall of Daniel's quarters. He was standing at the shelves looking blankly at the books that lined the walls neatly in long rows. There was a different book for each of the worlds that SG-1 had visited in the last two years that the Stargate program had been running. There were at least three books, more like encyclopedias, all about the planet called Abydos. Daniel was looking at one particular page in one of his many books. The only thing on the page was a single sentence: "The end will come, millennium, the end will come". " Chevron seven engaged!!" These words over the speaker awakened Daniel from his daydream. He ripped down the hall and entered a large room. At the back of the room there was a large circular device, the Stargate. The Stargate all of a sudden shut down as soon as he walked through the doorway. "Darn, I missed them." Daniel said as he headed towards the control room. "They just left for 'P3X739' " The general told Daniel as he headed for the main computer. "Stargate reactivation not confirmed," Daniel read from the main screen. The computer generated voice finished for him. "Power malfunction has
occurred, P3X739 non existent on hardrive computer." "We should have waited for Daniel." Captain Samantha Carter said to the Jaffa, Teal'c. "Doctor Jackson will find a way to reach us, of this I am certain." The Jaffa proudly announced from the top of the sand hill he was standing on. "Hey Teal'c, looks like your the king of the mountain now!" Jack O’Neill laughed to his comrades. Teal'c just made a confused face and said " I am not a king of any sort,
that I know of, Colonel O’Neill." August 29, 1999 10:30 p.m. "You never showed up, Daniel. I can’t postpone a mission because you were off somewhere in ‘La-la Land’." Colonel O’Neill said to Daniel as they met in the gate room. "Jack’s right, Daniel. You cannot just wait for forty-five minutes and then decide to stay and wait some more. I’m sorry Daniel, it just doesn’t work like that here." Sam said as she slowly walked down the ramp holding her badly bruised arm. "I was getting the necessary items we would have needed to dial home, and besides that, the computer lost all memory of ‘P3X739’ anyway." Daniel protested to his friends as they surrounded him in anger . "Captain, I think you should see Dr. Fraiser about your arm before it gets worse." Lieutenant Simmins told the captain as he exited the room. O’Neill, Teal’c, and Carter had been scouting around on the planet they went to. Usually, they separated into pairs to do their recons, bu this time there were only three of them. Carter had been a little ways away from the others, and had fallen down a hillside. O’Neill angrily pointed to Carter, yelling at Daniel. "Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if you’d have just showed up on time, like I told you. Then we would have had enough people that this wouldn’t have happened!" Carter‘s arm was sure sore, but she knew that because of all of this yelling, maybe Daniel was hurt more than she was. She gave Daniel a quick glance of sympathy and walked out of the room. Daniel just glanced around at all the unfriendly faces, stormed out and headed for his room. Daniel was very upset. Not only did he have the mysterious words in his
book to worry about, but now his whole team was mad at him. He stopped
off at the vending machine on the way, thinking that some chocolate bars,
soda, and an early bedtime would give him relief from the yelling people
inside the large steel room containing the Stargate. December 24, 1999 3:00 p.m. "Wait for me next time, okay!?" Daniel said crossly to his team mates. "Weather reports say that the worst storm in history since the day the dinosaurs became extinct will hit Cheyene Mountain in three days." The general told SG-1 after talking to the president. "Nice Year-end were having isn’t it?" Jack said sarcastically. All of a sudden Daniel dropped his books, started repeating the one sentence he had previously read in his book, and ran off. In his room, Daniel sat on the bed looking at the book. There was now another sentence: "Malfunctioning will happen, the stars will be unreachable." All of a sudden a loud crashing sound was heard coming from the gateroom. SG1 rushed to the gateroom and walked in to find that the Stargate had fallen over. The worst part was that when it hit the ground, the Stargate broke in half. " I have people working on removing the seal from the second gate. As soon as that job is done, the gate will be shipped here A.S.A.P." The general tried to calm SG-1. "Not enough time. The end is coming in less than a week!" Daniel sadly
announced. He thought to himself that he really wasn’t sure exactly what
was coming, but his book had said it would be the end. December 29, 1999 10:30 p.m. Colonel Maybourn was being his annoying usual self, on an unwelcome visit to the SGC. He was standing nearby as General Hammond was talking to Daniel about what he had said a couple days ago; that the end was coming. "General. NASA has detected eight Goa'uld motherships headed for earth. They are just passing Mars now!!" Colonel Mayborn reported to the general. "What! And you are just telling me this, now? Inform NASA, Maybourn. I'll call the President right away." The General barely had time to speak his words as he ran out of the room. Hammond called the President right away, and was surprised to find that Maybourn had not told the President about the ships, either. Daniel was very excited. "This must be what my book was trying to say. I hate to say it, General, but I told you so!" "Mayborn, you’re finished." The General yelled at him, while he was still on the phone. "You have done nothing to warn the President about the incoming danger! Because of this, the President himself gave me the order to have you forcefully retired from duty." He hung up just in time to see SG-1 returning from outside. "Tide's gone." Colonel O’Neill reported. "Darn. And just when I had bought my plane tickets for a surfing trip to Hawaii." "What do you mean?" The General looked very confused. "The moon. It just went 'boom', sir. My guess is that a couple of Goa'uld ships lost control." Sam filled in the General with the latest news. O’Neill looked disappointed. "Just when I bought my new telescope, too." "You must have spent a lot of money on the telescope and those plane tickets, huh? I didn’t know you even had a surf board." Daniel said, looking concerned. O’Neill just looked at Daniel, with a disgusted look on his face. Didn’t the guy know how to take a joke? "Anyway, Colonel, I have good news for you. Your 'friend' Mayborn is
going to be out of your hair until you are forced to retire like he was.
Also Captain Carter, the replacement Stargate will arrive within the hour
and you may begin rebooting the systems." Both the general and SG-1 looked
very pleased. December 30, 1999 1:00 p.m. " Two down, six to go." Sam reluctantly told the rest of the team. "We don't have time. If the two ships destroyed the moon, that means that the rest are already in orbit. But, another sentence appeared in my book last night. It said: 'Wait now, All will be well, Wait.' So now we wait." Daniel sounded like a tape recording when he announced these depressing words to his comrades. The gate opened. Daniel waited in the control room along with the rest of SG-1 and Lieutenant Simmins. Out of the gate walked a woman with frizzy hair and a dull pinkish dress. "I am pleased to return" said the Nox woman as she walked down the ramp. "We of the Nox can help you in your plight. All that we need in order to begin is a relic which comes from the race of peoples who might try to attack." "I know of just the thing." Daniel told the Nox woman, Lya. Daniel went to Sam's room and pulled out of a drawer a metal glove that has a strange yellow jewel in the palm. The Goa'ulds use these gloves’ magical power to destroy minds. Daniel took the glove to Lya. She got Daniel to place it at her feet while she closed her eyes and started to chant. Suddenly she was interrupted by what seems to be an earthquake. All of a sudden the blast doors were blown away. Sokar charged into the gate room and blasted the brand new replacement gate into pieces. The Nox woman tried to use her magic-like powers, but she got shot down by Sokar's staff weapon. Sokar turned his weapon onto Daniel. "Now for you." Sokar cried as his weapon charged and fired... "That's it..........No more late night snacks for me!!" Daniel said as he climbed shakily out of bed. On the digital clock in his room it said: August 30, 2:35 a.m.
